Is the International Space Station noisy? Can this cause problems to the astronauts?

Living in the International Space Station is very noisy. It's not like a nightclub, but it's close, a fascinating place, science fiction and yet, a very noisy place.
Located in orbit around the Earth at an altitude of about 360 kilometers, a type of low Earth orbit, this place generates noise ranging between 55 and 78 decibels. That is, the equivalent volume between a normal conversation or a lawn mower. The noise is generated by fans that circulate the air in the station. It may seem acceptable, but be aware that this noise 24 hours a day is heard.
The problem of high noise is such that the astronauts are forced to sleep with earplugs. This has led to be cases of decreased hearing ability of astronauts.
NASA continues to work on reducing this noise. To this end, it has sought to reduce noise with different soundproofing systems, such as vibration isolation fan, install acoustic panels on the walls and silencers on vents.
